2D/3D Imagery - Video Editing

This program focuses on learning the Avid* digital editing program which is the industry standard.

Course Objectives

This program aims to:

teach you the basic concepts of electronic video signals;
show you how to organize your workspace;
introduce you to off-line editing;
familiarize you with all of the technical and artistic duties involved in editing;
show you all aspects of editing various audiovisual productions.

Recommended Student Profile

This program was developed especially for those who fit one or more of the following criteria:


are creative;
are passionate about sound and images;
have great communication skills;
have a taste for technical work;
have the ability to think abstractly, visualize and design;
have the ability to respect tight deadlines and adapt to various schedules.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for admission into a program leading to an Attestation of Collegial Studies, you must have an education considered sufficient by the College and you must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

having interrupted studies for at least two consecutive semesters or one full school year;
benefit from a government program or an agreement between LaSalle College and your employer
having completed of at least one year of postsecondary studies over a one-year period or longer

Career Possibilities

You will put your creativity to good use as a production assistant, assistant editor, junior editor or editor.

Diploma

Attestation of College Studies.

Program Length

One year (three 15-week semesters) for a total of 735 hours.

Groups & Workstations

Two students per workstation during class time.
One student per computer during lab time.*

* Lab time is restricted to after-class hours.

Equipments

Avid System.
Macintosh & PC.
Betacam (camera & video).

Software

Avid Xpress, Boris, After Effect, Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro

Required Materials

You should have the following materials*:


2 Betacam cassettes.
1External Hard Disk LaCie 2d (120GB).
1 USB Key 512 Meg (optional).

* We strongly recommend that students wait until classes begin before purchasing any new material. Professors may have certain specifications and also direct you to the best buys.
